Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous pair of Kirk Sterling Silver tall candlesticks in the desirable REPOUSSE embossed floral design, c.

These candlesticks are decorated with an all-over elaborately chased floral design and are weighted for stability. Sterling, 925/1000, 88, Cement Filled on base.

Also has fancy 3-letter monogram "F CE" on base. Measure 9 3/4" high with a 4 5/8" diameter base and 2 1/2 top opening.

Both candlesticks are in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws, great natural patina and reflecting only minimal signs of normal wear. The iconic "Repousse" pattern by S. Kirk & Son made its debut in 1828 making it the oldest Sterling Silver pattern produced in the United States where its remained to this day as one of the most popular patterns ever created.

To create this pattern, the Philadelphia trained silversmith Samuel Kirk revived an ancient technique known as "repousse" to create an embossed design that is both versatile and instantly recognized.
